- "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19
Our mission foundation is based on Luke 4:18-19. Jesus proclaimed that He is the promised Messiah and gave the definition of His ministry which has become the ongoing essence of the good news of the gospel in the kingdom of God. Our mission, therefore, is to continue the works of the kingdom which Jesus began. We together with the Holy Spirit will preach good news to the poor, heal the broken heart, set the captive free, and proclaim the year of the Lord.(1)
The same ministry has passed on to His disciples, to the entire church and all missionaries. To preach the gospel to the poor, we need the anointing of the Holy Spirit, as Jesus did. We have to realize that the Holy Spirit knows that the unsaved are not whole and they need the healing for their defected parts. The hearts of the people are the target of Satan to attack. That is why He said He was sent to heal the broken hearted. The brokenhearted need to be healed for the heart is the soil where the seed of the gospel can grow. We need to proclaim the liberty to the captives, recovery sight to the blind and set liberty to those who are oppressed and proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
All these can be done through the teaching and preaching the word of God. That is why my strategy is to teach and counsel them first to make them understand the significant of the redemption plan of God, repent from their sins and ready to receive the gospel in order to be qualified to enter the kingdom of God.
With all power and authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18-20), Jesus can deliver the people from the bondages of sins. When we preach the gospel, Jesus promised to be with us by performing signs and wonder to confirm His Gospel.
